A/B Test – when the company cannot decide between 2 solutions, it leaves the decision to the user
Accelerator vs. Incubator – A 3-4 month program in which the founders have access to financial support, a team of mentors, and common areas. The incubator is focused on spaces rather than programs. Office spaces have an entrepreneurial spirit with an intention to internal ideas
Angel Investor – an investor who is willing to put money into a startup even before the startup finds itself in the black
Business Model – a way of financing, ie how the startup intends to get money from users (or someone else)
Business Plan – a piece of paper that should convince the investor that investing in your startup is more than a good idea
Black Numbers – a turning point that occurs when revenues exceed expenditures
Cash flow – is the movement of money towards or from a business, project, or product
CEO – chief executive officer; executive director of the company, who has all the powers and competencies in the company
Collaboration – teamwork on project development together, especially in terms of intellectual effort
Disruptive – the creation of a new innovative market that disrupts the existing one. If you can’t break it, fix it anyway
Elevator pitch – a quick presentation that you should manage in case of an elevator ride with a potential investor
Entrepreneur – entrepreneur; a person starting a business with the risk of loss for gain
Gamification – integration of virtual reality of the game concept into the activity of IRL (in real life)
Growth Hacker – encoder, salesperson, a marketing specialist in one; contains the word “hacker” in the title because it does not want to be labeled “non-technical type” and brings results virus-fast – rather a mythical character
Innovation – an innovation or a new idea, something new and with added value
Launch – product launch (or at least public beta)
Minimal Viable Product – a “cut” product that makes sense to launch
Non-GAAP Profitable – what companies that are very unprofitable like to claim. The idea that non-cash costs don’t count is usually the sort of sickness you see here
Networking – also “the best excuse for not working”, gathering and finding contacts at conferences (or elsewhere)
One Sentence Pitch – presentation of the whole startup in one sentence
OPM – other people´s money; foreign money is an incredibly addictive affair, startups hope to make a good investment in it
Pitch – a striking presentation with the aim of “selling” a startup to an investor or the public
Pivot – when a seemingly ingenious startup realizes that something is wrong – has the opportunity to change its direction even during operation; learn from feedback and find a new business plan and business model
Scalability – a system or ability to manage growth in a timely and appropriate manner; the ability to keep costs low even with high interest, or the ability to expand the original product in a new context. For example, such a Facebook is quite scalable
SEO – search engine optimization; optimization does everything you can to keep search results that link to you at the top of the search engine
Space – because it is too difficult to call the field of activity and work what it is, entrepreneurs refer to themselves (and their companies) as a player in the space
Startup – in general, this word refers to a young company that is launching a new project, idea, or idea in the form of a new or innovative product, service, or application
Unicorn – a very rare, talented man with several skills, which is very difficult to find
Usability – how a nice, functional, and user-friendly product of a given company can be used
